Summer Opportunities for Youth
SFUSD, in partnership with City College of San Francisco and many community-based organizations, has a number of opportunities for students to receive credit, and paid job experience! Please see these links for different programs:
SFUSD will be looking for HUNDREDS of Youth Workers for the 2018-19 school year! What is a Youth Worker? A high school student that is committed to working with children in a variety of settings including classrooms, after school programs, tutoring programs, summer camps, church groups, and many other settings. The SFUSD-CCSF Youth Worker Institute will provide paid on the job training and City College San Francisco units at no cost to you. As part of the Youth Worker Institute, students will attend classes at CCSF Mission Campus, complete up to 120 hours working with children in San Francisco summer youth programs, and earn high school credit.
Work, learn, and earn credits this summer as a teaching assistant or youth leader! Benefits:
City College UC/CSU transferable credit
10 units of SFUSD elective credit
120 hours of hourly paid work experience in SFUSD middle schools or SF community based organizations
Future job opportunities
Pride in doing something good for your community
The Career Technical Education office coordinates the Summer Career Exploration Programs for current SFUSD sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students who are interested in exploring careers related to the automotive technology and building and construction trades industries can explore careers through a combination of classroom learning and worksite visits. Students that participate in the program will:
Gain work experience through worksite rotations
Work with industry mentors and use what they learn in real world projects
Design and develop work projects related to your summer program
Build your resume and professional network
Earn a $1,000 financial compensation upon completion of the program
